Welcome to mivision’s final issue for 2025.
In this issue we celebrate the successes of eye care professionals and their contributions to community health and wellbeing.
Our lead article recognises ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, and optical dispensers who have been honoured within the Order of Australia over the past 50 years. Thank you to Professor Nathan Efron AC for helping with the extensive research required to pull this article together.
We also reflect on the remarkable impact of Centre for Eye Health (CFEH) as it closes its doors after 16 years. Established as a joint venture with Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and the University of New South Wales, CFEH has been at the forefront of collaborative care, education, research, and advanced diagnostics. Over the past few years mivision has published many exceptional articles written by CFEH optometrists. Thank you to Michele Clewitt, External Knowledge Development Lead at CFEH, for coordinating these articles, along with the authors and of course Michael Yapp, Head of Clinical Operations, for his support.
It has been such a pleasure to work with the team.
In September this year Maren Carson, mivision’s Head of Partnerships, travelled to Paris to attend SILMO – the annual eyewear and eye care tradeshow where customers, designers, and distributors meet face-to-face. Maren met with some incredible innovators and eyewear designers who shared their stories – you can read all about her experience in this issue.
As we wrap up for the year, I’d like to thank every contributor to mivision. We are fortunate to partner with so many influential members of the eye health community who generously give their time to share their expertise.
Thank you also to our advertisers who enable mivision to be published online and in print, and to our readers for your continued support.
Finally, on behalf of Todd and I, thank you to Nikki, Maren, Michelle, Simon, Jessica, and Dione, as well as our print partner Dean and his team at SpecialT, who together ensure mivision continues to be delivered to readers in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, online and in print.
I wish you all the best for the festive season. Enjoy this issue. We look forward to bringing you more in 2026.
