Disruptive: District Vision
Californian performance eyewear brand District Vision is now represented in Australia and New Zealand by Proper Goods. Described by Ben Walters, CEO of Proper Goods as “one of the world’s most progressive and category disruptive brands”, District Vision joins a stable that includes French designer Ahlem, French fashion house Balmain, New York City heritage brand Moscot, and Berlin-born design innovator Mykita.
District Vision’s proprietary lens systems, soon to offer prescription factory fits, provide athletes with hydrophobic properties, wicking away sweat, fog and the elements, and placing focus on the reduction of eye strain to ensure all available focus on performance. Crafted entirely in Japan from the highest-quality materials, District Vision is the first and only sportswear product to come from the Nakanishi familyowned factories in Sabae, Mr Walters told mivision.

Silhouette Moves to VMD
Silhouette is now exclusively distributed in Australia by VMD Eyewear, following the conclusion of the brand’s long-term relationship with Mimo. The deal extends the partnership already in place in New Zealand, where VMD’s associated company, Vision Marketing and Distribution Ltd, has been working with the Silhouette brand for more than 30 years.
The distribution partnership was announced after Silhouette and Mimo Pty Ltd ended their collaboration. Announcing the news, Silhouette expressed its “sincere appreciation for the long partnership we had with Mimo and the hard work of Lionel Minter, Cassandra Mow, and other members of the team”.
“In VMD Eyewear, Australian customers will find a distributor with knowledge and understanding our products and company values,” Silhouette said.
Headquartered in Austria, the Silhouette Group employs about 1,300 people worldwide. Rimless eyewear makes up the bulk of its product.

Beckham Design Excellence
Eyewear by David Beckham has won a Design Excellence Award in
the category of optical frames. This is the fifth consecutive Design Excellence Award received by distributor Safilo.
The awards, which are hosted annually by The Accessories Council in New York City, aim to globally recognise outstanding products across several categories of accessories.
Created in collaboration with Safilo in Italy, Eyewear by David Beckham offers vintage-inspired masculine and unisex sunglasses and optical frames with contemporary details that make a statement of style. The brand appeals to those who are interested in fashionable eyewear at an attractive price-point. Beckham has stated, “It is really important to me that each range of my eyewear has a style for everyone and every occasion”.

Moncler Signs with EssilorLuxottica
EssilorLuxottica has entered an exclusive licensing agreement that includes the design, production, and global distribution of Moncler eyewear.
The agreement took effect from January 2024 and will run until December 2028, with an automatic renewal option for an additional five years.
“With the introduction of the new Moncler Lunettes collections, Moncler’s style will seamlessly merge with EssilorLuxottica’s know-how in eyewear, delivering
