Opticare Launches Two New Sunmatic Ranges
Sunmatic III
Opticare has announced the launch of Sunmatic III, the latest advancement in its photochromic lens range, as well as the introduction of its new Sunmatic MyLife colour series. Building on the established Sunmatic range, Sunmatic III introduces improved activation speed, faster fade-back, and a cleaner indoor appearance.
Opticare said the lens reaches up to 85% darkness in under 26 seconds under ideal conditions and returns to near-clear (90% transmission) within three to five minutes. At 23°C, it achieves up to 90% light reduction, providing comfortable vision in bright outdoor environments. Sunmatic III features a refined steel-grey tint formulation that maintains natural colour perception while reducing residual tint indoors, supporting both visual comfort and a more neutral appearance.
Manufactured locally at Opticare’s Sydney laboratory, the lens uses front-surface spin-coating technology combined with a durable hard coat to ensure consistent performance and optical clarity. Opticare said Sunmatic III integrates with existing Opticare lens designs and coatings, allowing practices to upgrade their photochromic offering without changes to ordering workflows or turnaround times.
Sunmatic MyLife (RIGHT)Meanwhile, Sunmatic MyLife is a new colour series, expanding the Sunmatic range beyond traditional grey photochromic options. The MyLife series is available in brown, green, purple, blue, and pink, providing greater flexibility in aligning lenses with frame selection, personal style, and patient preferences.
Opticare said the addition of colour options enables practices to reposition photochromic lenses, not only as a functional solution, but also as a lifestyle-driven offering. This may be particularly relevant for patients selecting fashion-forward frames, those who previously declined photochromic lenses due to cosmetic concerns, or individuals looking to reduce reliance on prescription sunglasses, the company said.
Sunmatic MyLife retains the core benefits of the Sunmatic range, including strong outdoor activation, faster clearing when moving indoors, and a cleaner indoor appearance. Both Sunmatic III and the Sunmatic MyLife colour series can be ordered via Optilink, supported practice management systems, or through local Opticare laboratories.

ZEISS ClearMind
ZEISS’s new premium ZEISS ClearMind portfolio comprises all-day lenses designed for exceptionally clear vision. Scientifically proven to reduce cognitive load, ZEISS ClearMind links lens clarity to cognitive demands. When lens blur compromises vision, the brain works harder, increasing cognitive load. By optimising peripheral lens blur, ZEISS ClearMind eases this load, promoting better overall wellbeing.
Additionally, ZEISS introduces ZEISS NeurOptix technology, which aligns lens clarity zones with natural eye movements, enhancing comfort during prolonged digital use. This innovation enables ZEISS Progressive ClearMind lenses to attain clear vision zones that are up to 45% larger than previous generations.
The ZEISS ClearMind portfolio offers an all-day lens solution, including single vision, progressive, and digital focal types, specifically designed for spectacle wearers aged 18 and older who experience blurry vision at various distances. These lenses can be highly individualised through extensive customisation options, such as ZEISS Intelligence Augmented Design – a data-driven technology utilising 12.5 million data points to optimise lenses for age-related visual behaviour.

B.I.G. Exact Sensitive Expands, Faster ColorMatic X Arrives
B.I.G. Exact Sensitive (LEFT)Rodenstock has expanded its B.I.G. Exact Sensitive range of lenses across its full portfolio, saying they’re now available “for every age, every life stage, and every lifestyle”.
B.I.G. Exact Sensitive is the first and only lens to combine the eyes’ precise biometry with how the brain perceives visual information, Rodenstock said.
Rodenstock said each lens is created from thousands of datapoints and multiple parameters to produce customised, biometric lenses for each individual eye. “The result is the creation of lenses that integrate advanced algorithms based on each customer’s exact biometric eye data to match their unique visual perception.”
B.I.G. Exact Sensitive lenses are now available as single vision (Mono) lenses, offering sharp, natural vision for near or distance vision and as single vision plus (Mono+) lenses, which have an additional near vision reading support for digital lifestyles.
They are also available as near vision (Ergo) lenses, which are an ideal second glasses for the office for near and intermediate distance indoor tasks up to 2.5 m and progressive lenses, providing seamless transitions between near, intermediate, and far vision, with a wide perceived field of view. These lenses ensure quick adaptation and reduced glare for improved vision at dusk and during the night. Each are available in three premium lens design variants.
ColorMatic Innovations (BELOW)Also new to the market is Rodenstock’s ColorMatic X – its fastest and clearest photochromic performance yet, as well as ColorMatic Dark – the Rodenstock lens with the deepest darkening optimised for warmer climates up to 35°C that activates behind the car windscreen.
Rodenstock said ColorMatic is an innovative and high-performance technology for photochromic lenses offering protection against harmful UV light, artificial blue light, and glare. Engineered for fast reaction, high durability and all-day comfort, ColorMatic lenses contain visible light-sensitive molecules in the lens material. When exposed to UV light, these molecules change structure and darken the lens. Indoors, without UV, they return to their clear state 56% quicker than before.1 This constant reaction means the lenses adapt seamlessly to changing light.
Rodenstock said its photochromic lenses reach an impressive 93% clarity. They darken deeply to 88% outdoors, equating to category 3 sunglass protection; that helps filter more blue-violet light,2 and block 100% of UVA and UVB. Optimised for moderate climates (23°C), ColorMatic X is now available in all indices.
ColorMatic DarkFor extra dark relief, ColorMatic Dark brings together the deepest darkening of Rodenstock photochromic lenses, consistent performance at higher temperatures, and in-car activation in one lens.
Outdoors, it darkens up to 90%, giving extra glare relief while staying comfortably clear indoors without UV exposure. Optimised for warmer climates up to 35°C, it delivers outstanding performance all day long. Rodenstock said this is the only ColorMatic lens that also activates behind the windscreen of a car for constant visual clarity and comfort on the road, regardless of how bright it is. ColorMatic Dark blocks 100% UVA / UVB rays and helps filter more blue-violet light.3
