Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) has partnered with mivision to recognise eye care professionals who have made a meaningful difference to people affected by macular disease.

The new Eye Connect Healthcare Award was launched as part of MDFA’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Community members were asked to nominate eye care professionals who provide exceptional patient care, support better eye health outcomes, and connect patients with the services and information they need.

MDFA Chief Executive Officer Dr Kathy Chapman said the award will “shine a light” on the dedication and compassion demonstrated across the eye care community.

“At times of uncertainty, the support of an exceptional eye care professional can make all the difference as someone adjusts to life with vision loss,” Dr Chapman said.

“This award is our way of recognising those who go above and beyond for the people under their care.”

Dr Chapman said the award acknowledges that the role of an eye care professional often extends beyond clinical treatment.

“Every day, eye care professionals help people facing significant challenges associated with vision loss,” she said.

“This award gives patients, carers, and families the opportunity to say, ‘thank you’ and recognise the individuals whose care has made a lasting impact.”

The winner will be announced on World Sight Day, Thursday 8 October 2026.
