Ophthalmopro describes the new eyePlate-S as the next step forward in glaucoma drainage technology. Building on the trusted eyePlate platform, this new device combines a microsized tube with an optimised, ultra-thin silicone plate to give surgeons greater versatility and patients better outcomes.

1stQ AddOn
Cataract and refractive lens exchange patients are educated and have high expectations. There are several situations where a 1stQ AddOn secondary supplementary sulcus lens may be required to achieve the best outcome.
The 1stQ AddOn lenses (Medicontur Group) have very high rotational stability in the sulcus due to the non-torque four-point fixation design. Available in monofocal, monofocal toric, trifocal, and trifocal toric options, these lenses allow precise correction of residual spherical and astigmatic refractive errors via the 0.25 D sphere equivalent steps and up to 11.0 D cylinder powers. Reversibility of trifocality is possible at any time via the dual lens procedure or trifocal upgrade, which provides a ‘get out of jail free’ card, in the event that the trifocal component becomes inappropriate.

RxSight
The RxSight Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is the first and only intraocular lens that enables postoperative refractive customisation. Using targeted UV light treatments after surgery, the non-diffractive lens can be adjusted to refine refractive outcomes while preserving contrast sensitivity and minimising dysphotopsias.
The LAL is designed to deliver laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis-like visual outcomes1,2 and is well suited to patients who have previously undergone refractive surgery.3 It also enables precise blended vision outcomes, is available in spherical powers from
-2.0 D to 30.0 D, and can correct as little as 0.5 D of astigmatism. In a bilateral implantation study,4 93% of patients achieved uncorrected distance vision of 6/6 or better, while 94% achieved J2 (N6) near vision or better at best focus.

Miniject
Miniject is iSTAR Medical’s innovative minimally invasive glaucoma surgery device for patients with open-angle glaucoma. Pattern MicroSecond Laser Trabeculoplasty
Pattern microsecond laser trabeculoplasty (PMLT), first performed in Europe by Dr Davide Borroni, is a new laser treatment for ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. Developed by Danish company Norlase on its Echo laser platform, PMLT is an evolution of micropulse laser trabeculoplasty, designed to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) while minimising tissue damage and post-treatment inflammation.
The technology uses digitally guided microsecond laser pulses that align precisely with the trabecular meshwork, allowing automated spot placement, improving treatment accuracy, and reducing procedure time. According to Dr Borroni, the system’s guidance and automation help ensure complete coverage without overlapping laser spots.
In an initial patient treated in Italy, PMLT enabled discontinuation of pressure-lowering eye drops, resolving medication-related ocular irritation. The in-office procedure takes about three minutes per eye and has achieved an approximately 18% reduction in IOP at one month. Early clinical experience suggests PMLT could become an important first-line treatment option for ocular hypertension.
